Tell us about yourself in 50 words!
Hi, UP! First of all, I’m UP’s biggest fan (everything else is secondary)! I love storytelling (be it through writing or talking) and am currently studying business. My friends and I annually organize Indonesian Youth Conference every July and I wrote a book called “DreamCatcher”. I’m a self-proclaimed professional dreamer.
We love your writings. Why do you love writing?
Thank you, UP! I believe being in love with something resembles being in love with someone. Sometimes you don’t really know why, but you fall into it anyway. Yet, if it’s love, your heart just knows. I think every person has their own “favourite” way of communicating to others and expressing ideas. Writing, for me, is the best medium to express my thoughts, and most of the time, convey my feelings. It is such a sanctuary for me. People say, “Books are the windows of the world”, which means writings are too. I hope to be able to spread as many ideas and stories as possible to people across the world one day, because knowledge and experiences were given to us to be shared.
What was your first biggest dream?
I can’t really remember my first biggest dream (I think I have too many!). But, I can say that it was probably to publish a book. I thought it was impossible for a young person or a student to publish a book, and one needs to be able to write like J.K. Rowling in order to get a book published. Having this dream made me remember what Walt Disney once said, that all dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.
How did you come up with the design of DREAMS?
Working on this project with UP has been my first experience in ‘fashion design’. My cousin is a fashion designer and I often see him work, but I have never had a hands-on experience on this field. I told Diana about this and she has helped me a lot, especially with the technical details such as what fabrics and height of the platform that she would recommend. For both of us, the word “DREAMS” remind us about the skies and the stars, which result in the colour picked and accessories. Also, I hope people who wear DREAMS would feel even more confident and wear the pair in their journey to reach their dreams. Be it to a job interview, a university entrance test, a date, or a trip to an ancient site… They’ll look at their shoes and they’d know that they have taken the one small step to reach what they aspire for.
What is your story you would like to pass on to the wearer of your DREAMS wedges?
I believe everyone who wears DREAMS wedges would carve their own stories while they are wearing the shoes. However, I want DREAMS to always be a reminder that having dreams fuels our life. A dream could be big or small. It could, and should be possessed by everyone. The most important thing is to know that dreams do come true, to work smart and persistently to reach it, and help others pursue their dreams. For a dream dreamed together is a reality. DREAMS are going to take you places. Live your dreams!
